Greetings & Salutations
Hello Everyone, Welcome to FUN Forums!
Let me take a moment to explain why fun_forums was created. It is my hope that you embrace it by sharing your wealth of numismatic knowledge within the community. Through our diverse membership this forum can become an educational resource to all of us.
I have served on the board of Florida United Numismatists (F.U.N) since 2007. In January of 2011 I was elected Vice President. After my election I contemplated how during my term as Vice President I could better serve you, our members, as well as the collectors and hobbyist who attend our annual convention(s). What could help me keep my finger on the pulse of F.U.N? What could help me improve our show while providing educational resources to those interested in collecting?
Through discussions with my sister who volunteers each year at F.U.N.’s conventions, we decided to bring F.U.N. into the social networking scene. My first act as Vice President and my gift to all of you is FUN Forums.
FUN Forums is an interactive “community” and discussion group created for Florida United Numismatists. We chose LiveJournal over other social networking sites because it offers a virtual community. My mission here is to create an open dialog between our members and the Board of Directors, while providing updates on our annual conventions.
This discussion group will allow you (our members) to voice concerns; take part in surveys and offer suggestions. It will also allow fellow numismatist to educate each other through conversations within this “community”. Your participation on FUN Forums will be invaluable to our young numismatists and the novice coin collector. Your feedback will allow us to improve future F.U.N. conventions.
A Little History On F.U.N.
For those of you who found F.U.N. forums through web searches on “coin collecting” let me take a moment to provide you with some history on F.U.N.
Florida United Numismatists (F.U.N) is a State of Florida chartered, non-profit organization dedicated to the education and enrichment of numismatics in our State and beyond. FUN has become one of the largest regional organizations in the United States to serve our industry.
Our membership is comprised of hobbyists, collectors and dealers who share a common interest. We are best known for our annual convention which is held each January at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. Our convention is a premier event attracting dealers and collecting enthusiasts from every corner of the United States and around the world.
So, please join us by creating an account and contributing to the forums. Feel free to ask questions or share your experiences with others regarding the two conventions that FUN hosts each year or share your expertise with others. It is a well known fact that you become more of an expert on a subject when you care enough to teach others.
